And suddenly you hear the sound of pattering rain. Eleven heroes standing in a row. Soon after, the German national anthem rings out in the background... That's how it must have been on 4 July 1954, just before kick-off in the World Cup final between Hungary and Germany at Wankdorf Stadium in Bern.
In the exhibition's recreation of the Miracle of Bern, you hear the 'Fritz Walter weather' and feel the tension before the game. The original match ball lies in the centre of the room as if ready for the kick-off.
The outcome of the final is no doubt common knowledge. As is the identity of the winning-goal scorer. Nevertheless, the memories of Germany's first major trophy never fail to give you goosebumps. You will feel it.
